My current artistic practice addresses my experiences with violence, emotional entrapment, and transcendence. Often times, I will employ outwardly benign imagery to articulate these ideas in a removed manner without denying their presence in my own history. By forming connections between popular sources and my own experiences, dialogues between internal conflicts and my observations of the exterior world are simultaneously confronted.Despite certain negatively charged feelings associated with my background, I employ an uplifting palette and lively visual rhythms to reflect a positive, more optimistic experience of life. It is the conversation and contradictions between these strains that reflects my general outlook on reality, and that I hope to address more intensely as my work continues to mature.
